First up I'd like to say that I think Cartoon
Connection is the funniest show on Oz TV. Their
unique brand of improvisational comedy is pulling
in a lot of adult viewers I suspect! It certainly
has me hooked.
I suspect that's one of the reasons for its continued
success at the Logies. So what sort of audience does
it have? ...and what sort of twisted weirdos visit
this web page? :-)
Ok, here's an idea... inspired by "Frontline" or "The
Larry Sanders Show"... a satirical behind-the-scenes
docudrama about a cartoon show.
Jamie Dunn, the hard drinking, hard living host...
his own character now dominated by his puppet persona.
A line of ex-wives almost as long as his criminal
record.
I'm sure the visitors to this web page can come up
with caricatures to match the rest of the cast, eg:
The Crikey character modelled on Krusty the Clown
from "The Simpsons" (but that's where the Crikey
idea came from anyway isn't it eh Ian? :-)
Some recurring plot ideas:
A power struggle between Jamie (the Originator of the
show and Exec Producer) and the usurpers Ian and Mike
(ruthless Co-Creative Consultants).
(Maybe that's why they've been given a reduced role
with the new Sydney produced show. Fingers-crossed
that it's just a temporary reduction.)
Sexual tension. Lets face it, it has always been part
of the show... Agro and Stacy, Agro and Holly, Agro
and Terasa. Jamie jealous of Agro's popularity. etc...
( Maybe behind-the-scenes one of the girls resembles
"Brook Vandenberg" [frontline]. I suspect that was
Anne-Maree though. )
Spies from a rival children's show infiltrating and
stealing ideas. Maybe the Ian Calder character is
really a mole from "Bananas in Pyjamas" and his dodgy
"Who Dares Grins" segment is actually designed to
harm the ratings?
As you can see - there's heaps of material. It just
seems to write itself.
My only worry is that it may be a little bit too
close to the truth.!!!
